Former History Teacher Finds Independence with Young Rembrandts
Tom Dempsey worked for more than 15 years as a high school history teacher before becoming a Young Rembrandts franchisee in Boise, Idaho. He took over an existing location in early 2017 that had been serving its territory for 13 years, filling a lucrative niche in the local education scene.
“What I enjoy most about running my business is the independence and ability to make my own decisions that directly impact my business,” Tom says. “I have the ability to be at home when my kids come home from school which is extremely important to me.”
Tom, who has recently used his substantial community connections to double his business, enjoys the flexibility that his franchise business ownership opportunity affords him. But more than that, Tom gets to engage his teacher side by helping grow kids cognitively and intellectually through structured art education that also develops students creatively.
Tom serves as a great example that with Young Rembrandts, experience in art education is not required. Franchisees with the childhood art curriculum franchise come from a variety of backgrounds, from retail to education to the C-suite. Regardless of their backgrounds, franchisees with Young Rembrandts are outgoing, personable, organized, community-oriented and want to make a difference by owning their own businesses.
